3F UL Gear: Ultralight Tents & Backpacking Gear

`

3F UL Gear is one of the best-known names in affordable ultralight tents. The brand is built around trekking-pole shelters, lightweight fabrics and a simple idea: save weight without moving to a £500 tent.

We are an authorised 3F UL Gear dealer. This page explains the model families, helps you choose the right one and links to the current range. If you already know you want a Lanshan, start with the Lanshan comparison hub.

The Lanshan family

The Lanshan is the reason most people find 3F UL Gear. It is a trekking-pole shelter with a double-wall or 1.5-layer design, two doors on the 2-person models, and a price that undercuts most European ultralight tents.

Not sure which one? The Lanshan 1 vs 2 vs 2 Pro vs 1 Pro comparison breaks down weight, doors, layers and who each tent is for.

Materials and build

3F UL Gear tents use 20D silnylon or silpoly fabrics, aluminium or trekking-pole support, and factory seam sealing on the standard Lanshan 1 and 2. The Pro models use a lighter 1.5-layer construction and may need seam sealing before wet use — check the individual product page.

These are lightweight shelters, not expedition tents. Pitch them well, use suitable pegs and protect the floor on rough ground. For UK wind and rain, a solid pitch matters more than the headline weight.

FAQ

Is 3F UL Gear a good brand?

Yes, for value-focused ultralight tents. The Lanshan range is widely used by UK backpackers, and the Taiji/Taihang models cover other layouts and space needs. It is not a premium expedition brand, but the price-to-weight ratio is strong.

Lanshan 1 vs Lanshan 2 — which one?

Lanshan 1 is a one-person tent; Lanshan 2 is a two-person tent with two doors. Choose by capacity first, then by weight and budget. The comparison hub has the full table.

Do 3F UL Gear tents need trekking poles?

The Lanshan models are trekking-pole shelters and need two adjustable poles (or suitable support poles). Check each product page for the recommended pole length.

Are 3F UL Gear tents seam sealed?

The standard Lanshan 1 and 2 are described as factory seam-sealed. The Pro 1.5-layer models may need sealing before wet weather use. Check the product page and follow the instructions.

Which 3F UL Gear tent is best for the UK?

For most UK backpacking, the Lanshan 2 or Lanshan 2 Pro is the best all-round choice for two people; the Lanshan 1 or 1 Pro for solo. Choose the 4-season inner if you camp cold or outside summer.
